Kathmandu. Chaudhary Group Chairman and MP Binod Chaudhary met world-renowned philanthropist and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates on Tuesday on the occasion of the Philanthropy Asia Alliance-2025 (PAA-2025) held in Singapore.
During the meeting, the two had a serious discussion on the major challenges in Nepal’s healthcare and employment sectors. During the meeting, Binod Chaudhary expressed his gratitude to the Gates Foundation for its partnership from the devastating earthquake of 2072 to the COVID-19 pandemic and in the field of child nutrition through the ‘Strong Nepal’ campaign.
He informed that discussions were held on further expanding the decades-long collaboration of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in the social sector of Nepal. MP Chaudhary gave this information by posting a picture of the sideline meeting with Bill Gates on social media.
During the discussion, there was also discussion on implementing the health and employment programs that the Gates Foundation has successfully run in other countries of the world in Nepal and expanding them according to the context.
After the 2072 earthquake, Chaudhary Group’s social organization, Chaudhary Foundation, helped make the government’s relief program more effective for rescue and relief at the time, and also used its resources to construct about three thousand earthquake-resistant temporary houses in the earthquake-affected districts. It also provided relief to the affected communities through school reconstruction, food and drinking water distribution.
Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chaudhary Foundation supported the Government of Nepal in strengthening health infrastructure by establishing an intensive care unit (ICU) and oxygen plant at Bir Hospital and oxygen plants in Dhangadhi and Surkhet.
Oxygen concentrators, personal protective equipment (PPE), PCR test kits and N-95 masks were distributed in all seven provinces.
