Kathmandu. Dr. Swarnim Wagle, Vice President of the National Independent Party, has commented that the policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year has made the government’s rhythm, character and strength clear. Deputy President Wagle made this comment while participating in the discussion on the policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year in the House of Representatives’ meeting on Tuesday.
He commented that even the seven-point agreement between the Congress and the UML was a joke. He said that the points written in the agreement are a joke as the government has not been able to move forward as per the agreement between the two parties.
He said that although there is a tradition that the two major parties of the country come together only when there is an economic and natural crisis in the country, the current government has not given any enthusiasm to the people, adding that the government has not included any program for amending the constitution and reforming the economy in its policies and programs.
He commented that even the leaders of the ruling party are not satisfied with the government’s policies and programs.
He said, “There should be enthusiasm when the two major political parties of the country run the government together, but that is not the case. The results of the experiment when there is a major crisis in the country and an economic or natural disaster are almost zero.” The seven-point agreement said that we will not commit corruption, good governance, etc. It has become a joke today. Nowadays, if comedy programs are not aired on television, a minister would be made to recite it. Not a single point of constitutional amendment has been included in the policy and program. And there is no mention of economic reform anywhere. Therefore, the rhythm, character, and capacity of this two-thirds government is like this. Do you think that this policy and program has done justice to that? I have found great disappointment in discussing with politicians from the ruling party. Now the policy and program has become entangled in these petty, thin and tested announcements.’
Wagle says that the budget should be prepared based on the policy and program and emphasis should be placed on implementation.
