Myagdi. After 14 years of the track opening, the Darbang-Bim-Dichyam road upgrade of Malika Rural Municipality of Myagdi has begun. The Infrastructure Development Office, Myagdi, has launched a project to upgrade the Khara-Bim-Dadangaun section of the Darbang-Bim-Dichyam road through a contract under the budget of the Gandaki Province Government.
The Infrastructure Development Office has stated that Sarva Shakti Mahamaya Pvt. Ltd., which signed a contract for 119.9 million in Asad last month, has started the initial phase of road upgrade work. The project, which has a contract period of two years, has made about 15 percent progress. In 2068 BS, about seven kilometers of road connecting Khara to Bim were built through donations collected from the then JBS, Bim VDC and locals.
Bishnu Poudel, head of the Infrastructure Development Office, said that the current three-tenths five to five meter wide road will be widened to seven meters, drainage, wall construction, slope, gravel and blacktop will be done.
Resham Bahadur Jugjali, elected from Myagdi 1(2), said that the upgrade project is being carried out in the section from Khara to Bim Talo village to Dadangaun as vehicles carrying heavy goods of the hydropower project under construction on the Myagdi River will be moving on the road from Darbang to Khara and causing damage. .
When Jugjali took over the responsibility of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport Management of Gandaki Province last year, a budget of Rs 40 million was allocated, ensuring the source of a budget of Rs 20 million for multi-year contracts. In the current fiscal year, only Rs 15 million has been allocated.
Provincial Assembly member Jugjali, who inspected the road on Saturday, directed construction entrepreneurs to speed up. The contractor who widened the road by cutting the wall in the Lurwang-Tallogaun section is constructing a retaining wall. Budhi Jugjali, a resident of Khara, said that the residents of the former Bim VDC of Malika Rural Municipality-7, Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-5 Malkawang and -6 Marang and Malika Rural Municipality-6 Dichyam will benefit from this road.
