Kathmandu. State Affairs and Good Governance Committee Chairman Ramhari Khatiwada has said that the government is serious about ensuring that no Nepali citizen becomes stateless due to citizenship. He said that the bill to grant citizenship to children in the name of the mother has been introduced and the government is also serious about ensuring that no Nepali citizen becomes stateless due to citizenship. He expressed his commitment to present this bill in a more detailed and in-depth manner in the committee and expressed his belief that the relevant parties will be invited for discussion during the discussion of the bill.
He also said that if there are any shortcomings or weaknesses in the bill, he will move forward by correcting them, saying, “Our goal is to complete them if there are loopholes or lapses while making the law. Therefore, the bill that has come up now is to grant citizenship to children in the name of the mother. The government also wants that no Nepali citizen should be stateless with a citizenship card. We want to discuss it more extensively. If you are facing difficulties due to the law, we want an environment to be created where you do not have to face difficulties. We will also bring it to the committee for discussion. The state should make laws after listening to everyone when it is in trouble.’
