Kathmandu. Nepal is on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list for failing to combat money laundering, and the government has adopted a policy to meet all international standards in the next two years.
The government’s annual policy and program presented in the House today aims to meet all international standards in the field of money laundering within two years.
‘For the prevention of money laundering, the work according to the national strategy and action plan on preventing money laundering and financing of terrorism will be completed and the country will be brought into the category of a country that fully complies with international standards on money laundering within 2083 BS. The policy and program states that the investigation and prosecution system will be made transparent and effective to regulate money laundering.
The policy and program also states that the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers will be developed as a ‘Center of Excellence’ to make public service and development administration more effective and result-oriented. The policy and program also states that the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers will monitor the work of the result-oriented monitoring and monitoring bodies of development projects.
It is stated that the reform work will be gradually increased as directed by the High-Level Governance Reform Commission formed under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister for good governance and efficient administration. Similarly, the government has committed to activating the e-Governance Board for simplification of the decision-making process and transformation of services through technology.
It is stated that continuous close monitoring will be carried out to ensure citizen access by making public service delivery simple and easy. Similarly, a ‘Rapid Response Team’ will be mobilized for prompt response to complaints received through Hello Government. It is stated that a zero tolerance policy will be adopted against corruption and the second national strategy and action plan against corruption will be implemented to increase transparency and accountability in government bodies.
The policy and program also mentions that the work of the bodies under the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers will be made transparent, systematic and technology-friendly. It is stated that the role of these bodies will be further strengthened in controlling smuggling, corruption and misuse of state property.
The government’s policy and program also mentions that the process of confiscating criminal assets and bringing them into state ownership will be continued.
The government has also adopted a policy of completing the work of the Road Transport Service Provider Establishment Survey, Private Health Service Provider Establishment Survey and Cooperative Survey, which are required to change the base year of the national accounts estimate. Similarly, the government aims to complete the data collection for the National Economic Census 2082 within this year.
The government’s annual policy and program also mentions upgrading the electronic procurement system to make public procurement results-oriented and effective, and mobilizing the Investment Board to raise external investment for industrial and infrastructure projects.
