Chauthaiwale told Barshaman: ‘There is no support and goodwill from India in the royalist movement’

Kathmandu. Vijay Chauthaiwala, the foreign department chief of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who is on a visit to Nepal, has met with Barshaman Pun, Deputy General Secretary of the CPN-Maoist Center.

The two leaders met on Friday. During the meeting, Chauthaiwala said that India has no cooperation, support or goodwill in the monarchist movement that started in Nepal some time ago. “India is not in favor of monarchy and there is no cooperation, support or goodwill in the movements for it,” Pun said, quoting Chauthaiwala.

Similarly, Pun said that Chauthaiwala expressed happiness over the condemnation of the attack on 9 Baisakh in Palgam, Jammu and Kashmir region of India, by the Nepali government, political parties and citizens. The attack left 27 people dead, including Nepali citizen Sudip Neupane. “I would like to commend Nepal for its solidarity against terrorism,” Chauthaiwale had told Pun.

Pun said that he also discussed the relationship between the Maoist Center and the BJP with Chauthaiwale. He said that they expressed their belief that the brotherly relations between the two parties since the past will further strengthen in the coming days.

In that context, Pun mentioned that Chauthaiwale also praised the role played by the previous Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda-led government in strengthening Nepal-India relations.

Chauthaiwale, who arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday on a three-day visit to Nepal, met Prime Minister KP Oli, former Prime Ministers Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa, leaders Dr. Shekhar Koirala, Udaya Shamsher Rana and another leader Ramesh Lekhak, who is also the Home Minister. After completing the visit, he is returning to Delhi today.
