Kailali. Compared to last year, wheat production in Kailali has decreased by 2,298 metric tons this year.
According to the Agricultural Knowledge Center, this year, wheat was cultivated in an area of 32,840 hectares, and 110,14 metric tons were produced. Last year, wheat was cultivated in the same area and 112,312 metric tons were produced.
Wheat productivity has also decreased this year compared to last year. Information Officer Durga Prasad Ojha informed that the productivity of wheat was 3.42 metric tons per hectare last year, while this year it has been 3.35 metric tons per hectare.
“There has been some decrease in production. Rainfall decreased when water was needed, and production has decreased because all farmers did not use improved seeds,” said Information Officer Ojha, informing that the office has been providing improved seeds at a 50 percent subsidy with the aim of increasing production.
