Simkot. Service recipients have been suffering due to the disruption of telephone service in Sarkegad Rural Municipality, located in the middle of Humla, for a long time. Locals say that the service has been disrupted for a month due to a malfunction in the telephone tower located in Bhadali, Kuti village, Sarkegad Rural Municipality-5.

As the telephone has not been working for a month, the general public, health workers, and people involved in various professions and businesses of Sarkegad-5, 6 and 4 have been suffering from communication problems, said Kiran Budhathoki, head of the rural municipality health branch. He said that even though the network is shown on the mobile phone, there are problems such as the phone not working and the messages not being sent.

At this time, at a time when vaccination and other health activities are increasing in every health institution in Sarkegad, branch chief Budhathoki has complained that he has not been able to get information from health workers due to the non-functioning telephone. Due to the lack of telephone, it has been difficult to contact patients with complex conditions.

He said that since internet service is not connected to remote villages and health institutions in all wards, it has become a problem to get information quickly and accurately through the phone. Budhathoki complained that some people did not pay attention to the disruption of telephone service when they informed everyone about it.

Get Bahadur Thapa said that service recipients have suffered due to the disruption of telephone service in the municipal center, Sarkegad, and surrounding areas. He said that since the telephone service has not been working for a month, contact with relatives inside and outside the district has been cut off, and government work has also been affected.

The locals have complained that they are frustrated that the rural municipality, telecommunications office and other related offices have not shown interest in repairing and bringing the telephone tower into operation.

Ranjin Lama, acting chief of the telecommunications office in Simkot, said that the information about the disruption of telephone service in Sarkegad came to the office only on Tuesday. He said that the tower may have malfunctioned a while ago, not a month as claimed by the service recipients there.

Acting chief Lama said that he has received information that the telephone service in Sarkegad is coming and going through the system at the central office. “If the problem is not resolved immediately, we will send technical staff from the Simkot office to repair it,” he said.

Chief Lama said that the telephone service may have been disrupted due to insufficient solar energy. Stating that repairs are being carried out from the central office, he said that staff will be sent from here if the problem is not resolved. There are sub-branches of the Area Administration Office, Citizens Bank, and various other organizations in Sarkegad, and the lack of phone service has created problems in the daily operations of the office as well as in the dissemination of information.
