Kathmandu. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that eye health will be integrated into the National Health Insurance Program.
Inaugurating the international conference titled ‘In Sight of Life 2030’ organized by organizations working in the eye health sector here today, he expressed his commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals and said that the integration of eye health into the primary health care system and essential services has been prioritized, especially keeping in mind those at risk of vision loss.
Noting that the rapid assessment of preventable blindness in Nepal was completed in 2022 and that it helped guide our national priorities, Prime Minister Oli informed that the Health Sector Strategic Plan has a commitment to increase effective cataract surgery coverage from 35/45 to 75 percent by 2030. .
He emphasized global cooperation as no country can reach its destination alone in this journey.
Says that eye health is now considered a part of public health infrastructure, and that equality and gender access to education have been expanded by conducting vision screening and nurse programs at the school level.
