Uravan of Inaruwa is earning up to Rs. 400,000 in a single season by cultivating gourds on seven acres of land.

Inaruwa. According to Sunsarigadhi Rural Municipality-5, Uravan has been cultivating gourds on seven kaththas of land and earning up to Rs 400,000 in a season. Stating that he has been cultivating gourds on rent from others for Rs 20,000 per year, he informed that he has planted five hundred gourds on seven kaththas of land.

He said that Rs 50,000 was invested in planting the plants. He said that Rs 50,000 was spent on seeds, fertilizer, water, farm preparation, and farming and field management, and that he would earn up to Rs 400,000 in a season.

At a time when news is coming out that youth are migrating abroad and some have been cheated, he urged the youth to become self-employed in the country, saying that they can earn up to Rs 400,000 with less investment. Uraon said that he has been able to earn a lot of income with a small investment from gourd farming, which can be grown for three months to a year on steep land.

He said that he has taken up gourd farming for the first time in the rural area on rented land. He mentioned that he initially sold gourds for Rs 80 per gourd, but now he is earning Rs 400,000 even when selling them for Rs 20 to 25.
