Agency. The Indian government has banned 16 Pakistani YouTube channels for broadcasting false and inflammatory content against India and security agencies following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
The channels include well-known names like Dawn News, ARY News, Geo News, which have a combined viewership of over 63 million. With this move, which was recommended by the Home Ministry, action has also been taken against misleading content spread on social media.
A formal letter has been sent by the government to the BBC India office for misrepresenting the Pahalgam incident. 26 tourists were killed in a firing incident in the Baisaran area of Pahalgam on April 22. The incident is being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
It has been revealed that three of the five people involved in the incident are Pakistanis and two are locals. The government has reportedly taken strict action against false propaganda that affects the security of the country.
