Kathmandu. The first meeting of the sixth session of the House of Representatives has begun. In today’s meeting, Speaker Devraj Ghimire read out the contents of the letter convening the session received from President Ram Chandra Poudel.
He expressed the expectation that this session of the parliament will be effective in lawmaking, addressing the aspirations of the people, and other issues. ‘It is expected that the government will present policies and programs, budgets, and other laws in the parliament in this session. Parliament is a place where the people’s voices are raised and also a place to make necessary laws for the country,’ said Speaker Ghimire. ‘I believe that this session can overcome the discontent seen among the citizens due to the delay in making laws. Parliament will play an effective role for transparency, social justice and accountability.’
In today’s meeting, the Speaker read out the contents of the letter received from the President’s Office regarding the Prime Minister’s responsibilities and the formation of the Council of Ministers.
Similarly, in accordance with Rule 10 of the House of Representatives Rules, 2079, MPs have also been nominated to preside over the meeting in the absence of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker. In which MPs Amrita Devi Agrahari, Dr. Chanda Karki Bhandari, Durga Rai, Buddhiman Tamang, Mukta Yadav, Rajendra Kumar KC and Hemrai Rai have been nominated.
In today’s meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel is scheduled to present the ‘Alternative Development Finance Mobilization Bill, 2082’.
