Kathmandu. Identity-oriented youth have urged all parties to be ready to advance development while preserving local identity and existence.

The ‘Youth for Identity’ organization held a press conference in Kathmandu and said that all parties should be ready to resolve the issue of the Pathibhara Cable Car construction through dialogue and dialogue rather than conflict. The organization said that identity-oriented youth are ready to resolve the Pathibhara Cable Car problem through dialogue. At the press conference, the organization’s president Krishna Chongwang said that they are not anti-development and are ready to openly negotiate with the government to resolve the problem.

Complaining that the government has not taken the talks seriously by including all the agitating groups, he said that despite various initiatives for talks, no conclusion has been reached. Chairman Chongwang said that a press conference was held in Kathmandu to draw everyone’s attention to solving the problem. He also expressed his belief that a solution would emerge only through talks and dialogue after the government calls all the identity groups and identifies the problem. Since there are different groups in the movement and the problem has not been resolved due to the inability to hold meaningful talks, Chairman Chongwang said that the problem can be solved by understanding the real problem at the people’s level.

Chairman Chongwang said that the issue of identity will not be strengthened with the agenda of stopping the construction of the cable car, and that there should be talks and dialogue with all organizations at the people’s level to protect identity. Stating that they are ready to communicate openly and take the initiative, he said that they have to draw the attention of all parties for a solution.

The identity-oriented youth believe that the government should call all organizations and groups to identify the problem and that only then can it provide a solution. Miktok Limbu, President of the Limbuwan Brotherhood, mentioned that since Pathibhara is a heritage linked to the identity of Limbu, the construction of the cable car should guarantee the promotion of identity. He said, citing the example of most political movements in the world being resolved through dialogue and dialogue, “The issue of cable car construction should also be resolved through dialogue.”

He also strongly demanded that further discussion and debate be held on the future development modality, stating his opinion that identity and development should be taken together. Biraj Angdambe Limbu, the central coordinator of Youth for Identity, emphasized that all parties should be serious about issues related to local identity and development. He also said that the organization of identity-oriented youth is appealing to all parties to maintain local identity and existence and move forward with development. Coordinator Angdambe also expressed confidence that the problem will be resolved if the state invites everyone to a dialogue and the cable car construction company also takes its views to the public level.
