Controversy over governor appointment escalates, recommendation committee member Vijayanath Bhattarai resigns

Kathmandu. The controversy over the appointment of the governor has intensified. The controversy has reached its peak after the member of the recommendation committee formed to recommend the 18th governor resigned.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers on Chaitra 11, 2081 had formed a 3-member recommendation committee to recommend the governor. The committee includes Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel, former governor Vijayanath Bhattarai and economist Bishwa Poudel.

Among these, former governor Vijayanath Bhattarai has resigned. Bhattarai resigned after the committee was formed but has not been able to hold a meeting so far.

A three-member committee led by the Finance Minister has been formed to appoint the governor, with Dr. Bishwanath Poudel as an expert member.
