Kathmandu. President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Chandra Prasad Dhakal has said that opportunities should be created at home by using the skills learned abroad. He made this observation while addressing the Nepal Festival 2025 organized in collaboration with the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Non-Resident Nepali Association in Dubai.
He emphasized that since Nepal has sufficient potential, economic prosperity should be achieved through those possibilities. “Development is not possible without a planned long-term thinking. We can learn from Dubai that visionary and stable leadership is necessary for development. The UAE, which is solely dependent on oil, has diversified its economy and focused on sectors such as tourism, financial services, construction, smart cities and trade. It has made Dubai a global business hub. We should also diversify the possibilities in our country and benefit from them.” He said.
In the context of Nepal, there is vast potential in sectors such as energy, tourism, agriculture, and information technology. Chairman Dhakal said that if foreign investment can be attracted to these sectors, it will create employment and support the overall economic development of Nepal.
Noting that Nepal is a country rich in art and culture and that Nepal can be introduced to the world through art, culture, and traditions, which are invaluable assets of the country, he said that such festivals organized abroad will play an important role in introducing Nepal to the world and increasing friendship and goodwill.
He also said that the Federation is continuously working towards further strengthening economic relations between Nepal and the UAE. He said that the federation, in collaboration with the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, organized the “Nepal-Dubai Business Forum” in December 2023, which provided an opportunity for business leaders of the two countries to explore the possibilities of bilateral cooperation.
Noting that the private sector highly values the contribution of Nepali workers working abroad, he said that the federation is committed to building partnerships that benefit both Nepal and the UAE.
