Kathmandu. Eyeglass businessmen have said that the state should plan and budget for the eyeglass business, which accounts for a large share of the state’s economy through taxes. At the ongoing Optical Expo in Kathmandu, businessmen said that it is the government’s responsibility to work for the rights and interests of eyeglass businessmen.
They say that the results of the Expo have given them more encouragement to hold such programs in the future. Businessmen say that all the necessary goods will be available in retail eyeglass shops at the exhibition that connects importers and retailers. Businessmen say that even though the exhibition was organized for the first time, the presence of customers has added enthusiasm, businessmen say.
Devendra Maskey, Joint Secretary of the Optical Association Businessmen Association, said that the eyeglass business accounts for a large share of Nepal’s economy. He said that the exhibition will play an important role in protecting and promoting the business of eyewear entrepreneurs who work in the field of the eyes, an important and sensitive part of the human body.
He said that the crowd seen at the exhibition shows that the objective of the exhibition has been fulfilled. He said that the state should arrange training for eyewear entrepreneurs.
Chabi Lal Timalsina, General Secretary of the Eyewear Wholesale Association, said that the government should pay attention to the problems of eyewear entrepreneurs. He said that the government should reconsider the high tax imposed on the import of eyeglasses. He complained that in some cases, entrepreneurs have suffered even after paying taxes. Since the eyewear business is related to people’s health, he is demanding that customs duty on imports be exempted. The exhibition, which began on April 5th, will continue until April 7th, according to the organizers.
