Bhadrapur. Employees of the Ratuwamai Tree Plantation Project in Kerkha of the district have not been able to receive their salaries for 10 months. The employees have not received any remuneration since Ashar last year.

43 employees, including permanent, contract and daily wage workers, are working in the said project. According to project chief Bhakti Prasad Gautam, the post of chairman of the Crop Development Committee, which is appointed by the federal government, has been vacant for a long time, so the program has not been approved.

‘Since it is a project under the committee, the chairman has not been appointed, so the tabal is not available and no other work has been able to proceed,’ he said. Project Chief Gautam said that despite the fact that the project is being carried out to plant trees and conserve forests and grow them, timber has not been sold for a long time due to the lack of approval for the program.

According to him, the Ratuwamai Tree Plantation Project has a forest area of 2,753.76 hectares. The project’s forest area is bordered by the Kankai River in the east, the Ratuwa River in the west, the Chulachuli foothills in the north, and the East-West Highway in the south.
