Anti-constitutional activities are unacceptable: Home Minister Lekhkat

Gandaki. Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said that anti-constitutional activities are unacceptable. Inaugurating the Gandaki Province-level Security Seminar in Pokhara today, he said that anti-constitutional activities and acts of instability in the name of former monarchists or any other party will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Minister Lekhak said that everyone should be ready to protect the current constitution obtained through a sacrificial struggle. Stating that seven constitutions have been made in Nepal in a span of seven decades, he opined that the current constitution is the most advanced democratic constitution in the world and that every problem can be solved through it.

‘Criticism, critique and various activities can be carried out within the constitution. Anarchic activities such as encouraging murder and violence and saying that the constitution will be scrapped cannot be carried out through anti-constitutional activities. If done, action will be taken according to the law,’ Minister Lekhak said, ‘Protecting the constitution is the need of the day. The current constitution is 10 years old. Efforts will be made to amend it based on the need, after reaching an agreement with all concerned, along with the necessary review of this period.’

He said that the government is continuously active towards solving all these challenges as increasing drug use, suicide, vehicle accidents, cybercrime, natural disasters, etc. have emerged as challenges in recent years. He also stated that it is imperative to make service delivery effective, Minister Lekhak urged that no effort be left unturned in providing services to the people.

He pointed out the need for this office to be proactive in coordinating with the federal, provincial and local levels to make service delivery effective. He also said that the service should be made citizen-friendly and technology-friendly.

Gandaki Province Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey said that the province is also vulnerable to natural disasters and the government is continuously working to resolve the risks. He said that the government is continuously working to respond to disasters such as floods, landslides, earthquakes.

Chief Minister Pandey said that a fund of not less than Rs 100 million has been allocated to target potential natural disasters in the province and assistance has been provided in the form of necessary equipment and other resources. Stating that the Korala border crossing was also operated last year, he pointed out the need to further organize it and move forward.

Officers of the security committees of all districts under the province are present at the security seminar. Minister Lekhak had today handed over the emergency warehouse under the association to the Gandaki provincial government. During a ceremony, Minister Lekhak handed over the emergency warehouse to Chief Minister Pandey of the province.

Home Minister Lekhak said that the emergency warehouse, built to enhance the emergency management capacity in Gandaki Province, will ensure immediate and effective management assistance in times of crisis.

Says that Gandaki Province is also vulnerable in terms of natural hazards, and he expressed confidence that the warehouse will provide significant assistance in various natural disasters that occur here. He said that cooperation between the center, province and local levels is necessary for disaster reduction and management.

Chief Minister Pandey said that with the handover of the warehouse, it will help in disaster relief work through a single-door system. Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi said that warehouses would be helpful in search and rescue in emergencies, and expressed the view that it is necessary to have warehouses in all local municipalities.
