Mehta from Sunsari earns Rs 8 lakh from potato farming in three months

Sunsari. Rajkishore Mehta of Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality-7 in Sunsari had cultivated potatoes on three bighas. He had spent 6 lakhs including all expenses. He said that potatoes worth around 1.4 lakhs were produced from that.

Mahato says that he managed to earn an income of Rs. 8 lakhs from potato cultivation after working hard for three months. He said that he earned an income of Rs. 8 lakhs by selling potatoes worth 1.4 lakhs after deducting all expenses. ‘There are various problems, there is a shortage of laborers and food grains. However, we managed to earn this income after working hard for three months. This is also an example of what can be done in the country,’ said Mehta.

Neel Kamal Singh, the head of the Agricultural Knowledge Center Sunsari, who mainly cultivates potatoes as a winter crop here, informed. He said that varieties of potatoes like Cardinal, Janak, Kufri Japi, Bhutani, Sathiya, TPS and others are grown here. According to the Agricultural Knowledge Center, potato cultivation is carried out on an area of 3,000 hectares annually.
