Revenue collection of Rs 2.35 billion in nine months

Jhapa. The Internal Revenue Office, Bhadrapur, has collected Rs 2.35 billion 14.44 million in revenue in the nine months of the current fiscal year 2081/82. This amount is 8.26 percent more than the same period of the previous fiscal year 2080/81.

According to the office’s statistics, Rs 2.17 billion 19.3 million revenue was collected in the months of the previous fiscal year 2080/81 (Shrawan-Chait), said Information Officer and Tax Officer Dorraj Sunuwar. He said that the target is to collect Rs 4.61 billion in revenue in the current fiscal year 2081/82.

Although revenue collection has increased compared to the previous fiscal year, only 81.45 percent of the target for the nine months of the current fiscal year has been collected, said Tax Officer Sunuwar.

In the nine months, the office has collected Rs 1.794 billion from income tax, Rs 71.99 billion from interest, Rs 767 billion from value-added tax, and Rs 399.767 billion from excise duty.

Similarly, action has been taken against 11 different firms and companies that did not pay income tax and value-added tax, and a fine of Rs 10 million has been imposed. Tax officer Sunuwar informed that Rs 75 lakh has been collected.

‘The office is continuously monitoring and supervising the market to achieve the target of revenue collection. In addition, legal action has been taken, including freezing the bank accounts of taxpayers with tax arrears and confiscating their land,’ he said.
