Inaruwa. Three people involved in the shooting incident in Dewanganj Rural Municipality of Sunsari have been taken into custody. The arrested are 21-year-old Shiva Kumar Mehta of Dewanganj Rural Municipality-7, Rabin Kumar Yadav of Dewanganj-1 and Pintu Yadav, Sunsari Superintendent of Police Suman Kumar Timsina informed.
Shiva Kumar Mehta was seriously injured during the shooting. He is undergoing treatment in Biratnagar under police supervision. As one group of people have been arrested and three people from the other group involved in the incident are still absconding, the search operation is ongoing, Superintendent of Police Timsina informed.
Three people, including another shooter, Kameshwor Yadav, are absconding. He informed that the three arrested and absconding have been living in the border area and engaging in various types of criminal activities. Six people were involved in the incident. Preliminary investigations revealed that all of them had criminal backgrounds and were wanted in India, Superintendent of Police Timsina said.
The arrested Rabin Yadav was previously involved in marijuana smuggling and was arrested and released a few days ago. The police said that Mehta, who was injured in the gunshot, is in a serious condition.
