Customs collects Rs 1.5 billion in revenue daily, Rs 346 billion in 9 months, Rs 38 billion more than last year

Kathmandu. The Customs Department has collected 41.97 billion rupees in revenue in the month of Chaitra. The department has collected 5.3 billion rupees more revenue than in the month of Chaitra of the last fiscal year 2080/081.

Last year, 36.67 billion rupees were collected in Chaitra. This is 14.5 percent more revenue than in Chaitra of the last year. The Ministry of Finance had given the department a target of collecting 51.58 billion rupees in revenue in the month of Chaitra. The department has collected 81.5 percent of the target in Chaitra.

The department’s deputy director general Janakraj Sharma said that the department’s subordinate offices are currently collecting 150 billion rupees in revenue daily. He said, “Currently, revenue collection is around 150 billion rupees per day on the days when the office is open. Due to the lack of increase in imports of revenue-generating items, there has been no significant progress in revenue.”

The department has collected 346.9 billion rupees in revenue in 9 months. The department had set a target of collecting 426.36 billion rupees in revenue during this period. The department has fallen behind the target by 75.46 billion rupees in 9 months.

Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has instructed the employees of the Customs Department to work to meet the target. He has already used 3 directors general since assuming the post of minister. He has already transferred former directors general Dhundi Prasad Niraula and Harisharan Pudasaini from the ministry itself. Mahesh Bhattarai has now been given the responsibility of Director General.

How much revenue did the department collect in which month

The department collected 34.69 billion in revenue against a target of 45.36 billion in the month of Shrawan. 39.58 billion in revenue against a target of 50.38 billion in the month of Bhadra.

38.88 billion in revenue against a target of 46.47 billion in the month of Ashoj. 33.88 billion in revenue against a target of 46.35 billion in the month of Kartik. Similarly, 39.33 billion rupees were collected in the month of Mangsir, 40.25 billion rupees in the month of Push, 39.38 billion rupees in the month of Magh, 38.99 billion rupees in the month of Falgun, and 41.97 billion rupees in the month of Chaitra.
