Revenue raised Rs 821 billion in 9 months of current year, expenditure Rs 100 billion

Kathmandu. Development expenditure has shrunk to 29 percent by the third quarter of the current fiscal year 2081/82. According to the data of the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General, the government’s capital expenditure as of Chaitra 30 is only Rs 102.9 billion. The government had allocated Rs 352.354 billion for the current fiscal year under the capital heading.

Compared to the annual allocation, the capital expenditure so far is 29.2 percent. Not only development expenditure, but also the overall budget expenditure for this period has been weak. Compared to the annual allocation, the budget has been spent by the end of Chaitra at 53.67 percent.

The government had brought a budget of Rs 1860.333 billion for the current fiscal year. By mid-Chaitum, Rs 998.5 billion has been spent. Similarly, 59.45 percent, or Rs 678.6 billion, of the Rs 1.14 trillion allocated under the current heading has been spent, the Comptroller and Auditor General’s Office has stated.

The expenditure under the financial management heading till mid-Chaitum is Rs 59.23 percent. For the current fiscal year, the government has allocated Rs 367.28 billion, or 45 percent, under this heading, and 59.23 percent of the annual allocation has been spent.

Revenue collection for this period is also weak. Out of a total revenue target of Rs 1419.3 billion, only Rs 821.67 billion has been collected as of Chaitra 29. This is 57.89 percent of the annual target. Similarly, out of a target of Rs 52.32 billion in foreign grants this year, only Rs 27.27 percent, or Rs 14.26 billion, has been collected so far.
