Kathmandu. Panchakanya Group, in partnership with Siddharthnagar City Hospital, Sumitra Memorial Cancer Hospital and Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital, has successfully organized a free cancer screening camp at its industrial premises in Tilottama-15, Kotihawa.
The company stated that the camp aims to promote the health and well-being of the local residents, company employees and the community living in Rupandehi. Led by Dr. Ujjwal Chalise of Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital, along with a team from Siddharthnagar City Hospital, the camp provided essential screenings including breast cancer screening and general health check-ups.
The company expects the program to also focus on raising awareness about the importance of cancer prevention and early detection. 433 women and 44 men aged five to ninety years benefited from the camp, which included 203 breast screenings and 71 general health check-ups.
During the check-up, one person was diagnosed with cancer and was provided with immediate treatment as well as free medicines, out of which 19 people showed symptoms and are awaiting further laboratory reports, the company said.
About 95 percent of the participants received free medicines from the camp, the company said. Devendra Sahu, General Manager of Panchakanya Group, said that the camp reaffirmed the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and public health initiatives.
Similarly, local social workers including Tilottama Municipality Mayor Ram Krishna Khan and Acting Chief of Labor Office Rishi Ram Panthi openly praised the company’s initiative to prioritize community health over profit.
This effective initiative emphasized the importance of early diagnosis of diseases and a healthy lifestyle, and the municipal representatives expressed their commitment to provide strong support for similar programs in the future.
