Kathmandu. National Assembly Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal has said that Nepal should benefit from China’s development and prosperity. Speaking at the Nepal-China Economic and Trade Conference organized here today to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Nepal-China diplomatic relations, he said that China has achieved miraculous progress in the economic, social and technological sectors and Nepal wants to benefit from it.
Chairman Dahal stated that the elected representatives of the Constituent Assembly in Nepal have succeeded in drafting a socialist-oriented federal democratic republican constitution with proportionality, inclusiveness and secularism, and now expects corresponding support to make progress in development.
He said that only some time ago, both houses of the federal parliament unanimously passed the laws related to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances to complete the remaining work of Nepal’s peace process. Nepal is being praised from all over the world for successfully concluding the peace process in a fundamental way. Now, there is no other option but to build an economically prosperous Nepal and maintain political stability to move forward on the path of socialism. I am confident that the Chinese government will continue to provide assistance and support in this as in the past, said Chairman Dahal.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1955, Nepal has been practically implementing its commitment to one China and is still committed to the one China policy, he said. Stating that the two countries have achieved many achievements so far on the path of mutual benefit, cooperation and prosperity, Chairman Dahal asserted that there has been significant progress in all areas including trade, infrastructure, energy, tourism, agriculture and people-to-people relations.
