We will rise above personal ambitions and work for legal practitioners: Chairman Mishra

Kathmandu. Senior advocate Pradhan Vijay Prasad Mishra has been elected as the president of the Nepal Bar Association. Mishra was elected with 5,052 votes.

His rival Senior Advocate Raman Shrestha received 2,621 votes. Mishra defeated Shrestha by a margin of 2,431 votes. Only 25 out of 25 people from Mishra’s panel have been elected in the Nepal Bar election. Talking to media persons after winning the post of Bar President, newly elected President Mishra said that with the victory came added responsibility and that he would move forward seriously with the responsibility.

He said that the establishment of an independent and clean judiciary, a judiciary free from corruption, good judges, a judiciary free from corruption, and timely amendment of the constitution are among his priorities. He said that his priorities include providing training to legal practitioners, establishing Lawyers Secondary, providing proper legal education, starting the process of mainstreaming women and young legal practitioners in the Nepal Bar Association, and changing the overall working system of the Nepal Bar.

He pledged to work for legal practitioners by rising above personal ambitions and saying that he would implement the manifesto of his own competitors and move forward by including everyone.
