Courtesy call on Energy Minister Khadka by Charge d’Affaires of Germany to Nepal

Kathmandu. Acting German Ambassador to Nepal Benjamin Seidel paid a courtesy call on Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka.

A variety of issues related to further cooperation in Nepal’s energy and irrigation sectors were discussed at the meeting held at the Ministry of Energy today. The Energy Minister’s Secretariat stated that the meeting discussed how to make Germany’s ongoing support to Nepal more effective and move forward.

During the meeting, Energy Minister Khadka expressed gratitude for the German government’s previous support for Nepal’s hydropower sector, alternative and renewable energy. He said that Nepal has set a target of generating 28,500 megawatts of electricity by 2035 and urged the German government to invest in Nepal’s hydropower projects to achieve that target.

During the meeting, Acting Ambassador Seidel said that Germany has been providing continuous support and assistance to the development of Nepal’s energy sector. He said that this support and assistance will continue in the coming days as well.
