Loknath, who murdered his neighbor and turned into a fake monk, arrested after 17 years

Kathmandu. Loknath Sah Teli, 62, of Bindabasini Rural Municipality-2 in Parsa, who killed his neighbor in a land dispute and became a fake monk, has been arrested after 17 years.

He had shot dead his neighbor, the Dhoda chief, Bin, on 25 Baisakh 2064 BS and had been hiding in the Ramjanaki Temple in Champaran Piriya, India, disguised as a monk for 10 years.

Loknath, who had absconded after the murder, was sentenced to life imprisonment with all his possessions by the Supreme Court on 24 Kartik 2069 BS in a case related to manslaughter. He was arrested by a team of the Central Investigation Bureau from Birgunj, Parsa, on Monday, taking advantage of his arrival in Nepal, and made public today.

He was presented at the Parsa District Court today for the execution of the verdict, informed the Bureau’s Superintendent of Police Sudhir Raj Shahi.

Two more arrested in connection with the Tinkune incident

Meanwhile, the District Police Range, Kathmandu, has arrested two more people involved in criminal activities in the Tinkune area on Chaitra 15. The arrested have been identified as Dil Kumar Shrestha, 45, of Arun Rural Municipality-5 in Bhojpur and Jit Bahadur Shrestha, 30, of Lisangkhupakhar Rural Municipality-4 in Sindhupalchowk.

The arrested have been remanded in custody for 20 days by the Kathmandu District Court under the offence of criminal nuisance and are being investigated, informed Kathmandu Range Superintendent of Police Apil Bohara.
