Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Rajendra Lingden has made serious allegations that Police Chief IGP Deepak Thapa is the co-chairman of the Youth Association, a sister organization of the ruling party CPN-UML.

Addressing a public meeting organized by the party in Balkhu, Kathmandu on Tuesday, Lingden made such allegations.

He commented that the Prime Minister, Home Minister and Police Chief are responsible for the incident that took place in Tinkune, Kathmandu on March 15. He also accused the police of firing expired tear gas. And did Durga Prasai bring and fire expired tear gas? His question was.

He said, ‘On that day (Chait 15), not only did the state incite violence, but more than two dozen people were shot. Two people died. Many were injured. There is no accounting for that. There is no accounting for the physical damage either. But the current state power, the current Prime Minister, the current Home Minister and the current police chief are responsible for it.’

‘The Home Minister must have given the order, the police must have gone, but the current police chief is the co-chairman of the UML Youth Association. The expiration date of the tear gas fired by the police is 2008, 2010, 2012. That is the tear gas fired by the kidney Prasain and that police chief, as a representative of the UML, shamelessly says – how can the tear gas we fired have an expiration date? The police should remain police, not a sister organization of any political party,’ he said.

He urged the media houses not to spread rumors because the country belongs not only to republicans but also to those who say a king should come.
