Janakpur. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has emphasized the need to strengthen the democratic republic by serving the people with a pure spirit with a firm resolve for good governance.
Addressing the Madhes Provincial Assembly today, Prime Minister Oli said that since the first right of the people is freedom from poverty, other rights have no meaning in the face of poverty, and called for moving forward together on the journey of development and prosperity.
‘The federal democratic republican system is a great achievement. This achievement should be taken not only as a political achievement but also as an achievement obtained through the struggle of the people. Therefore, our efforts should be dedicated to serving the people. We must work for perfect democracy,’ said Prime Minister Oli. ‘The people seek the achievement of change in the interest of their stomachs, their bodies and their descendants. Therefore, we must allow the people to exercise their democratic rights. Democracy should flourish in all social life. For that, society must be brought to the pace of development and good governance.’
Prime Minister Oli, stating that the social and cultural solidarity, tolerance and harmony of Madhesh Province are very beautiful aspects, praised the contribution of the disciplined, conscious and development-loving citizens here to maintaining Nepal’s freedom, sovereignty, geographical integrity, national unity, independence and self-respect.
Noting that the Constitution has granted autonomy to Madhesh Province and that it is everyone’s responsibility to utilize this autonomy properly, the Prime Minister said that the provincial government will have a special role in making coordination between the federal, provincial and local levels, policy formulation and development work effective.
Prime Minister Oli He emphasized that the development of the province should be carried forward with the support of everyone, as it is a fertile land of possibilities, with the Chure region suitable for agriculture, herbs, forests and immense resources of water. He said that the Sunkoshi Marine Diversion Project will increase national production and productivity by irrigating Madhes and this will create a sense of unity between the hills and the Terai.
Prime Minister Oli said that since industrial areas, petroleum pipelines, railways, postal roads, expressways, Ram Raja Prasad Singh Hospital are the basis for the development and prosperity of Madhes, the integrated check post and major customs checkpoint Birgunj can be developed as an economic center and the ancient city of Janakpurdham can be developed as a base for cultural tourism.
He said that Madhes, the land of eminent personalities and scholars like Rajarshi Janak, Mata Sita, Maharshi Parashuram, Mahakavi Vidyapati, and gods and goddesses like Chinnamasta, Gadhimai, should now move forward on the path of development by remembering the knowledge and pride of those ancestors.
