Gandaki. The number of people insured through the health insurance program in Gandaki Province has reached 49 percent.
In a program organized by the Health Insurance Board Gandaki Province Office in Pokhara on Monday on the occasion of the 9th Health Insurance Day, it was informed that the total population of the province is 24,66,427, while the number of people insured has reached 1,27,172 as of Chaitra 25.
In the program, Health Insurance Board Gandaki Province Coordinator Jivlal Kheral said that the number of people insured in the province is progressing positively and efforts are being made to include the general public in insurance.
Noting that the health insurance program is becoming effective worldwide, he said that in Nepal He also informed that it has been improved over time. Stating that there is a tendency to promote health insurance more negatively than positively in Nepal, Coordinator Kheral pointed out the need to provide positive information and enroll all citizens in health insurance.
Dr. Ramesh KC, Health Administrator of the Ministry of Health, Gandaki Province and Member-Secretary of the Gandaki Province Health Insurance Coordination Committee, informed that health insurance, which started 142 years ago in the world, has been operating in Nepal for the past nine years.
He emphasized the need to effectively advance this program, which is in its infancy. Stating that triangular coordination between service recipients, service providers, hospitals, and the Health Insurance Board is necessary, he said that emphasis should be placed on enhancing the quality of this program along with its effectiveness.
He said that it is necessary to make the health insurance program more effective by including everyone in it to provide easy access to treatment for the general public.
In the program, Rabindra Thakur of Manipal Teaching Hospital, Vidya Bastola of Western Regional Hospital, Shiva Pokharel of Drishti Eye Hospital, Om Thapa of Matri Shishu Hospital, registration officers Gomadevi Adhikari, Pramila Poudel, Tej Bahadur Darlami, Gautam Singh Dhami, and others expressed their views on the current status and challenges of health insurance.
