Achham. A person has been arrested on charges of forging documents and defrauding the Panchulli Chaitepatal Community Forest Committee located in Kamalbazar Municipality-5 of the district. The arrested person is Chhatraraj Timalsena, the secretary of the forest committee.
He forged documents in the name of the Panchulli Chaitepatal Community Forest Users Committee and obtained permission to sell chotro (stems, leaves, bark) products from the Forest Division Office, Mangalsen, informed Janak Padhya, Chief of the Division Forest Office, Achham.
He said that the arrested Timalsena has been taken into custody at the District Police Office based on a letter from the Division Forest Office and the investigation process has progressed. According to the Forest Act, 2076, there is a legal provision that cases involving a fine of more than 200,000 rupees and imprisonment of more than one year should be taken to court, and other cases should be handled by the Forest Division.
4,000 kilos of chotro (stems, leaves, bark) have been removed from the community forest. Since chotro (stems, leaves, bark) costs 10 rupees per kilo, a fine of 40,000 will be imposed, and if anything more is found during the investigation, action will be taken according to the same section, Padhyay said.
It is also said that an investigation is underway into the involvement of other people in obtaining forest produce permits by preparing fake documents.
