Twelve injured after being bitten by a rabid dog

Jhapa. Twelve people have been injured in Kachankawal Rural Municipality after being bitten by a rabid dog. According to Jagendra Prasad Yadav, head of Baniyani Health Center, the number of people injured in ward no. 6 due to dog bites has reached 12 in the past three days.

The injured include four women and eight men, including a four-year-old girl. Details of the livestock are yet to come, he said. The Baniyani Health Center has started vaccinating those injured in dog bites against rabies since this morning. He said that since the vaccine at the center is only enough for one dose, additional vaccines have been requested from the Koshi Province Health Supply Management Center.

Vice-Chairman of the municipality, Nawaraj Bhattarai, said that the municipality has been mobilizing police along with employees of the agriculture and livestock departments since this morning to control dogs.
