Kathmandu. A team including the chairman of the high-level committee formed by the Supreme Court’s mandate is visiting various NCCs with the aim of making the unity convention a success.
The team led by the coordinator of the committee, Dr. Shesh Ghale, has informed about the convention on May 3-5 in programs organized by NCCs in countries including the UAE, Britain, Belgium, Denmark, and Portugal in the Middle East. The team, which initially participated in the program organized in the UAE, then reached Portugal via Britain, Denmark, and Belgium.
Addressing the interaction organized by the NCCs, Chairman Ghale said that all 13 members of the high-level committee have equal rights. He also clarified that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible for implementing the court’s decision. ‘We will go to Nepal and draft a new statute. The NRNA statute is outdated. This organization did not grow. We brought Vision 2020 during my tenure, but it was not implemented. The court pointed out problems in the distribution of membership, selection of delegates and the election system. It said not only unity but also a dispute-free convention. It is not improved now, a new statute really has to be made. Such a mandate will not come again. Now let’s not look at the challenge, but only the opportunity,’ said Chairman Ghale.
Still, Ghale said that it is difficult to access the MIS system, ‘even though I am a lifelong member of Australia, I have not been able to access my own data.’ The committee members urged to prepare to send representatives to the Unity General Convention by March 31.
The program was attended by high-level committee members Janaki Gurung, Binod Kunwar, Kul Acharya, and activists RK Sharma, Gangadhar Gautam, Chintamani Sapkota, among others. Various NCCs informed the high-level committee about the NRNA movements taking place in their countries.
Support in Portugal
Says that there are many Nepali workers in Portugal and Ghale said that he would help establish a fund of 10,000 euros to support the Nepali community in its joys and sorrows. He also said that he is ready to provide additional support to the fund if needed. Committee member Binod Kunwar has also provided 1,100 euros to support the Nepali community. The money will be spent on those in need through NRNA Portugal.
