Kathmandu. The meeting of the House of Representatives has been adjourned without entering the agenda after continuous obstruction by opposition parties. Although the meeting, which was adjourned for half an hour on Wednesday, resumed, the opposition parties continued to obstruct the meeting.
The opposition parties have obstructed the parliament over the removal of Kulman Ghising from the post of Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority. They are demanding that the Prime Minister answer from the rostrum about Kulman’s dismissal. The Council of Ministers meeting held on Monday had removed Ghising from the post of Executive Director of the Authority and appointed Hitendra Dev Shakya. They are demanding that the Prime Minister answer about the reason for Ghising’s removal from the post of Executive Director. They have said that if there is no satisfactory answer, they will continue to obstruct the meeting.
The Cabinet meeting on 24th Shrawan 2078 had decided to appoint Ghising as the Executive Director of the Authority. Three days later, on 27th Shrawan, Ghising replaced Shakya immediately after receiving the appointment letter. Shakya had approached the Supreme Court demanding the annulment of Ghising’s appointment, which was appointed after removing him at that time. News Agency Nepal
