Bardiya. The Nepalgunj-Gulariya section of the nationally-glorious Postal Highway has been 95 percent completed so far. According to the Postal Highway Directorate Planning Office, the blacktop has been completed using the double asphalt method starting from the Nandanimil area of Nepalgunj to Lalpur Chowk in Bardiya.
Project Office Engineer Yubaraj Timilsina said that the blacktop of the section, which was started on Magh 15, 2070 BS, has been completed up to Lalpur Chowk in Gulariya Municipality-11. Stating that only about eight meters remain to be blacktopped, he informed that the first (single) blacktop work will be completed within two days.
According to Engineer Timilsina, there is a plan to complete the blacktopping of the entire section by Chaitra 25. The construction company had taken the contract for Rs 2.78 billion 29 lakh. Project Office Information Officer Engineer Krishna Pandey said that although the target was to complete the construction by Mangsir 10, the work is likely to be completed before the scheduled time as the company is working at a fast pace.
The total length of the Nepalgunj-Gulariya postal road is 27.6 kilometers. Of this, 11.6 km has been constructed in four lanes, Information Officer Pandey informed. According to him, about three km of the two lanes of the remaining 16 km section are yet to be double blacktopped.
He expressed confidence that the construction company is working at a fast pace and that the road will be completely blacktopped before the scheduled time as per the agreement. He said that once the road is completed, the Nepalgunj-Gulariya journey will be fast, easy and safe.
