Motor vehicles have reached Pangsing. He said that the remaining seven kilometers could not be driven on because the road was not cleared after digging the road. Out of the 154 kilometers of the Benighat, Arughat, Larke road, the Nepali Army has done the work of 92 kilometers of the road from Hawadanda. Due to the large mountains and hard rocks, the Road Department has given the responsibility of blasting the section to the army.

Out of the 154-kilometer section up to Larke Bhanjiang, the border with China, the Gorkha Road Planning Office has done the work of 62 kilometers from Benighat to Hawadanda.

The section up to Dobhan, which the army opened and made vehicular traffic possible, has also been handed over to the Gorkha Road Planning Office. Vehicles have started plying on a total of 97 km of the road constructed by the Road Planning Office and the Army.

Senani Dhakal informed that the Nepal Army has constructed a bailey bridge in Machikhola to facilitate vehicle movement even during the rainy season. According to him, the Government of Nepal has allocated 70 million rupees for digging a two-kilometer track this fiscal year. He said that the work to be done under the allocated budget has almost been completed.

“The work of digging a two-kilometer track is in the final stage, and it will be completed by this Chaitra,” said Senani Dhakal, “This year, Rs. 70 million was received for digging the track. We have almost completed the work to be done with that budget.” He said that this year, blasting work was done to open the track in four sections, namely Pangsing Bhir, Nyak Phedi, Rubinala and Pewa Bhir.

The construction of the road from Benighat to Arkhet via Arughat began in 2052 BS. In the fiscal year 2063/64, the Benighat-Arughat Larkebhanjyang road was named. The construction of the road began only in the fiscal year 2066/67.

However, the work of opening the track could not proceed for five years due to the presence of a hard rocky cliff in a one-kilometer area from Hawadanda. The Road Department handed over the work of the 92-km section, which was considered difficult, to the Nepali Army in 2074 Baisakh. After the decision was made by the Council of Ministers in 2073 BS, the Nepali Army Work had started in April 2074.

The said road will connect Larkebhanjyang, the border with China, via Lapubesi, Machakhola, and Jagat of Dharche Rural Municipality, Sirdibas, Bihi, Prok, Samagaun, and Samdo of Chumanbri Rural Municipality. The road is seen as the lifeline of northern Gorkha.
