Baglung. A training center has been launched in Baglung with an investment of Rs 55 million. Six people, including four former British and two Singaporean Lahures, have jointly invested and launched the training center.
They have launched a training center with well-equipped hostels for youths who want to join the British and Singaporean armies in Dandakhet, Baglung Municipality-4. The training center’s secretary, Jang Bahadur Pun, informed that the training center has started recruiting youths who want to undergo training for the 2026 recruitment.
He said that the training center was brought into operation with the aim of providing services nearby to youths from Baglung, Myagdi and Parbat who are forced to reach places like Pokhara, Butwal and other places to undergo training in order to be recruited in Lahore in the UK and Singapore.
Lahure Pun, a former British Army officer from Damek, Jaimini Municipality-3, informed that the construction of the training center started three years ago. Pun says that the training center, which has been built by purchasing 6 ropanis of land in Dandakhet, can accommodate 100 youths and provide training.
He says that many youths from Baglung, Myagdi and Parv areas are more interested in becoming Lahure. Since there was no training center in this area, we have now started it. So far, Rs. 55 million has been invested in the training center.
Although youths between the ages of 18 and 21 are eligible to join the Singapore and British armies, they can enter the training only after the age of 16, said Purna Bahadur Rana, the center’s treasurer. Rana is a retired officer from the Singapore Police Force. Currently, Purna Bahadur Shrestha, who has a permanent residence in Lekhani, Kathekhola Rural Municipality-8, is working as a trainer at the center.
