A reward of 50 million rupees will be given to the person who seized 250 million rupees of foreign currency, and 125 million rupees will be paid in revenue.

Kathmandu. On Monday, the Valley Crime Investigation Division will receive a reward of Rs 50 million for anyone who provides information about the 250 million foreign currency seized. According to the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act 2019, the person who provides information will receive a reward of Rs 50 million.

Section 20 of the Act provides a reward for information. In which, ‘If any person provides information about a foreign exchange-related crime committed in violation of this Act or the rules, regulations, orders, notices, instructions, licenses or permits made under this Act to the Government of Nepal or an authorized officer of the Government of Nepal, and if the foreign currency is seized on the basis of such information and the crime is proven, then twenty percent of the amount obtained by converting the foreign currency so seized into Nepali currency shall be given as a reward to such person.’ (2) The reward amount to be given pursuant to sub-section (1) shall be given from the amount obtained after the final settlement of the case by converting the seized foreign currency into Nepali currency.’ It is mentioned.

According to this provision, out of the total amount of Rs 251.60 crore, Rs 338 crore seized on Monday night, Rs 532,067 crore will be received as a tip amount. However, this amount will not be received by the informant. In the case of revenue leakage, there is a provision that the informant will also receive the tip amount in cash. In the case of foreign exchange embezzlement, only the tip will receive the amount.

There is a provision that 25 percent tax will be levied on the reward amount received by the tip. According to which, a revenue of Rs 12.58 million 116 will have to be paid for the tip.

According to the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act 2019, the tip will receive a reward, said a director of the Revenue Investigation Department. The director told Singha Dabar, “According to Section 20 of the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act 2019, the person providing the tip will receive 20 percent of the total amount, but the informant will not.”

A police team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office had seized foreign currency worth about Rs 252.245 million from the capital. The foreign currency equivalent to the value was seized as per the foreign exchange rate fixed by the National Bank for today (Tuesday, Chaitra 5).

A team dispatched from the office based on information that a large amount of foreign currency, including US dollars, was being transported and traded by evading revenue and seized the amount from Jhor in Tokha Municipality on Monday evening.

The driver of the cargo truck (Na7Kh 1651) was arrested along with 43-year-old Kusang Lama of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality in Sindhupalchowk while hiding it in the driver’s seat by making a ‘false bottom’. Superintendent of Police Kazi Kumar Acharya gave this information.

The office informed in a press conference organized today that the seized foreign currency includes 3,119 pieces of US dollar 100 denomination, 179 pieces of US dollar 50 denomination, 11 pieces of Euro 500 denomination, 480 pieces of Euro 200 denomination, 4,148 pieces of Euro 100 denomination, and 17,177 pieces of Euro 50 denomination.

He has been handed over to the Revenue Investigation Department for further investigation and action under the Foreign Exchange (Regulation) Act, 2019, along with the seized foreign currency. .
