Kathmandu. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has said that the bill should be made as consistent, comprehensive and good as possible. Speaking at the Finance Committee meeting on Tuesday, he said this.
The Finance Committee meeting today held a clause-by-clause discussion on the bill to amend and unify the customs law. Regarding this, Finance Minister Poudel mentioned that the bill needs to be made as consistent, complete, and as good as possible, and on the other hand, it needs to be finalized as soon as possible.
He expressed happiness that the committee has moved this bill forward by maintaining the identity between the need to do it quickly and well.

Speaking at the committee meeting, Nepali Congress MP and former Finance Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said that customs is a different planet and we should not think that we are making different rules for different planets.
He said that it would not be otherwise if there was another option of bank guarantee, saying, ‘Customs is a different planet. It is being calculated that we are making different rules for different planets. Regarding bank guarantee, I think that if there is any serious impact on revenue by providing a bank guarantee, let’s think about it. Otherwise, by providing the facility of bank guarantee as per the legal norms that are legally recognized everywhere, that person also has another opportunity to get out of his crisis. It doesn’t seem like it would be any different if there was another option of a bank guarantee.’
The Finance Committee has been discussing clause-by-clause the bill to amend and consolidate customs laws for a few days.
