Kathmandu. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deepak Thapa has been awarded the rank insignia. Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi presented the rank insignia to Inspector General of Police Thapa during a ceremony at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday morning.

The Cabinet meeting held in Baluwatar on Monday appointed Thapa as the Inspector General of Police. With the appointment, Thapa has become the 31st IGP of Nepal Police. Speaking after receiving the rank insignia, Inspector General Thapa said that he would try to establish a system rather than access.

He pledged to continue crime prevention and investigation without any excuses or alternatives. He said that he would take the initiative to further strengthen the country’s internal security, ensure peace and ensure the rule of law among the citizens. Speaking at the program, Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi praised the Nepal Police and urged them to work towards the goal of a happy Nepali and prosperous Nepal by maintaining peace, security, order, good governance and harmony in the country.

He expressed confidence that he would fulfill his responsibilities with integrity and honesty, and said that since the issue of peace, security and order is not only a visible issue but also a matter of feeling, it is everyone’s duty to maintain peace and order in a way that the common citizen can feel.

He said that the government is active to fulfill the expectations of the common citizen. He said that security challenges are also increasing in the face of negative perceptions towards the government. He said that it is necessary to reduce road accidents, reduce drug abuse incidents, and reduce cybercrime incidents.
