Kathmandu. National Independent Party leader Manish Jha has said that the appointment of the governor is going to be done by middlemen. Speaking in the House of Representatives, Jha said that he took money from middlemen and put the governor’s post up for sale.
Targeting Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel, leader Jha said, “We have already found out from the Securities and Exchange Board of Nepal (SEBON) which middleman family the name came from. We have also recently looked at the appointment of the Insurance Authority. I want to challenge you. I want to challenge you. It is not going to come from free competition. If the YJ qualification is not international exposure, this qualification is not there. We are waiting to see which middleman will pay how much money. Whose name will be sent.”
The Securities and Exchange Board of Nepal (SEBON) chairman is accused of misappropriating more than five billion rupees. In response, Finance Minister Poudel refused to comment. Minister Poudel said, “MPs should think before making such sentiments, I would also like to challenge them to confirm these allegations.”
Earlier, while addressing the House of Representatives on Tuesday (Falgun 27), Gagan Thapa had said that he was closely monitoring the appointment of the governor. He said, “When the government is making laws, everyone should benefit from it, it should not be limited to a limited number of individuals and groups. Questions have been raised repeatedly about the government’s decisions. The other day, the Honorable Deputy Prime Minister (Bishnu Prasad Poudel) said that he took responsibility, but while taking responsibility, one thing should be kept in mind. Parliament is also watching, we are all watching, we are closely watching the appointment of the governor, we are closely watching the appointment of the IGP. Everyone knows who is a person and who is not, in such a small country.”
Similarly, on the issue of appointments, the chairman of the main opposition party, CPN-Maoist, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, had claimed that two-thirds of the government was captured by middlemen. Chairman Dahal said, “I see that the colleagues in the government are very proud now, saying that the government did this and that. I said it then, and I still emphasize it now, that I have not seen the two-thirds of the government being driven by ministers and the Prime Minister, that horse has been driven by middlemen. I do not see the appointments you make, the settings you make, you do. They have been done by middlemen. I have seen it happen according to the decisions made by middlemen. I want to say with a challenge, tell me a single appointment and a single policy in the last eight months, which is not behind a middleman. Just give one example. Your meetings, committees and mechanisms look like drama. Today, the middleman is in the driving seat of power. I have already explained why the government led by me was removed. The middleman is in the driving seat of power. The courage and trust of the middleman has made honest businessmen confused today. Tomorrow, you will be confused.”
