Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Rajendra Lingden has said that Nepal’s political system is on the verge of change. He said this while speaking at the ninth anniversary program of Media Nepal held in Kathmandu on Friday.
He said that monarchy and democracy are not opposed to each other. He accused the media of creating confusion in the current politics about whether people should choose monarchy or democracy. He said that monarchy and democracy are complementary and the media should fulfill their duty by giving appropriate suggestions.
He said, ‘The country is above us, there is nothing above the country. The country is on the verge of change. Now it is not in a state where one or two people can stop it. Therefore, none of us should ignore the feelings of the people and lead the change we are seeking to bring about by keeping our faith at the center and leading to an accident. This change is not going to be stopped. Therefore, instead of spreading false propaganda about it, creating confusion in society, and creating conflict, we should suggest solutions.’
‘Currently, some media outlets are spreading propaganda that monarchy and democracy are opposites and alternatives to each other, trying to divide the people and society, raising the question of whether to choose a king or democracy. This should not be done. As the chairman of a party that wants democracy with a king in Nepal, what I would like to urge the media is that monarchy and democracy are not alternatives or opposites to each other. “Monarchy and democracy can go together, kings and democracy can go together,” he said.
President Lingden said that monarchy has existed for hundreds of years in Britain, the mother of democracy, and asserted that democracy with a constitutional monarchy and a Hindu nation will be established in Nepal.
