Kathmandu. Former President of the National Democracy Party, Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani, has said that a constitutional monarchy and democracy with the supremacy of the people are necessary in Nepal. He said this while speaking at the ninth anniversary program of Media Nepal organized in Kathmandu on Friday.

He said that a constitutional monarchy, democracy with the supremacy of the people and a three-pillar political system of a Hindu nation are needed. He claimed that the current political system has been criticized because political parties have exploited the people in the name of the people. He accused the current government of committing anti-constitutional acts by misusing the constitution.

He said, “In Nepal, democracy has been attacked in the name of democracy, people have been exploited in the name of the people, and voices have been raised against it. Voices have been raised against the way this constitution has been misused to go against the constitution.” One thing about that voice is no longer without change. Earlier, Nepal used to have two-pillar politics. Monarchy and democracy within the constitution. Now we say that three-pillar politics are necessary in Nepal. The country needs a monarchy within the constitution, a democratic system based on pluralism with the people playing the role of guardians and the supreme power. Nepal’s identity, equality of all religions, and the identity of a Hindu nation in the world are also needed. These three pillars have become necessary for stability, progress and new changes in the country.’

Former President Dr. Lohani accused the Nepali media of being biased by not reporting news on relevant issues. He expressed anger over the fact that the big media did not give space to the welcome given by the people to former King Gyanendra.
