We will solve the problems seen in health insurance by making policy decisions: Executive Director Dr. Kafle

Kathmandu. The newly appointed Executive Director of the Health Insurance Board, Dr. Raghuraj Kafle, has said that he will play an important role in establishing financial sustainability in the board. He said this while assuming office at the Health Insurance Board office on Friday.

He expressed his commitment to making the health services provided by the board simple, accessible and of high quality. He said that good governance will play an important role in making the services provided by the board effective, so efforts should be made to maintain good governance.

Claiming to ensure universal health participation during his tenure, he said, ‘I will leave after doing four plus one five things in the course of four years. I will ensure universal health coverage and universal health participation. Second, I will play an important role in establishing financial sustainability in the Health Insurance Board.’

‘The third topic is that the health services provided by the Board, that is, the health services provided by the Board through service providers, will be simple, accessible and of high quality. In this, additional quality and convenience will be provided to the services currently provided. The fourth topic will be strengthening the institutional capacity of the Board. These four topics are my four-year commitments. And another important topic in this is that I have called good governance as four plus one, which connects all four topics. “Since the Susan’s side is equally important in fulfilling the commitment I have expressed, I have said that I will fulfill my four plus one commitment to take it to all sides in four years,” he said.

Executive Director Dr. Kafle said that millions of people have benefited from the health insurance extended to all 753 municipalities. He said that the board will resolve the problems seen in service delivery by taking policy decisions. He expressed his commitment to resolve the financial problems seen in service delivery by collaborating with the government.

He said, “Lakhs of citizens have benefited from this. 485 service providers have provided services and this service has been extended to 753 municipalities. There are also some difficulties among these positive achievements. We will present many solutions to address that difficulty. We will sit with the leadership of the Insurance Board and make policy decisions. We will collaborate with the Ministry of Health and Population, we will collaborate with the Government of Nepal. And the financial difficulties are the ones that I have presented, and sustainability is linked to that. Rather than solving it overnight, this problem will be addressed within a certain time.’

Executive Director Dr. Kafle said that he would review the current health service package. He said that he would take forward the institutionalization to effectively implement health insurance by reassuring the service providers.
