According to Bishnu Prasad Pandey, engineer of the eastern section, 34.98 kilometers of blacktop has been completed in the four-lane direction and 3.15 kilometers in the two-lane direction. Pandey said, “If we calculate the blacktopped section as two lanes, 73.11 kilometers have been blacktopped.” As of last Falgun 16, the physical progress of this section has reached 78.95 percent, while the financial progress is 59.25 percent. According to Pandey, the final blacktop has been completed for 20.16 kilometers on the four-lane side of this section, while the final blacktop has been completed for 12.32 kilometers on the two-lane side.
Under the eastern section, blacktop has also started in the district headquarters Damauli Bazaar. Blacktop on one side has been completed in Bag Bazaar, Byas Municipality-2 in Damauli, and road preparation for blacktop on the other side is underway. The agreement was signed on Magh 17, 2077 BS in the eastern section and work began on Baisakh 2, 2078 BS. China Communication Construction has been awarded the contract for the eastern section.
The road is being made into a four-lane road with the help of a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) after the traffic pressure on the road marked out in 2026 BS increased. The bridge, which will be the longest arch design on the Prithvi Highway, will have four lanes. The current two-lane bridge over the river is 370 meters long. A new bridge is being constructed about 50 meters away from the same bridge.
