Sarlahi. A total of Rs 27.6 million has been collected in the Mahayagya organized in Hariwan Municipality, Sarlahi. The Mahayagya was organized from Falgun 22 to Falgun 29 with the aim of constructing a building for the Manav Sewa Ashram in Danuwari, Hariwan Municipality-9.
According to Madhav Thapa, coordinator of the Mahayagya main organizing committee, Rs 4.2 million was collected on Thursday. The building in Danuwari is incomplete due to lack of funds and 110 million is required to complete the construction of the building, said coordinator Thapa. The ashram had earlier organized the Hariwan-11 Mahayagya to raise funds. Hariwan Municipality had contributed 5.6 million rupees to the Mahayagya.
Coordinator Thapa said that support has been received from other municipalities, ward offices, social organizations and individuals in the district. Since Sarlahi does not have its own building, the ashram is being operated in the Senior Citizen Building in Hariwan-1 Kailashpuri. Currently, 60 people have been given shelter in the ashram.
