Humidity center built at Rs 14.7 million in Myagde is operational

Tanahun. A humidity center has been brought into operation in Myagde Rural Municipality-3 here. The humidity center was built and brought into operation with the aim of storing locally produced agricultural products for a long time and selling them in the market at a reasonable price, said Shri Prasad Shrestha, the chairman of the rural municipality.

A contract agreement was signed with Pasa Construction for the construction of the humidity center on Poush 1 of last year for 14.7 million four thousand six hundred and forty-seven crores. The two-storey building is spread over an area of 195.85 square meters. The Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality, Narayan Prasad Adhikari, informed that the potatoes, fruits, vegetables, etc. produced by the farmers will be stored in the humidity center.

The official said, “The humidity center will help in storing agricultural products, so that farmers will get a fair price.” According to the official, the humidity center has a capacity of two hundred metric tons.

Rukmita Ghimire, member secretary of the humidity center operation and management committee, informed that a fee of Rs. 10 per kilo has been set for storage in the humidity center. However, farmers within Myagde Rural Municipality will be given a 50 percent discount.

Farmers produce agricultural products but have been facing problems due to not being able to sell them on time, so now the humidity center will make it easier, said Balkrishna Ghimire, Vice President of the Rural Municipality.
