Kathmandu. Gangs smuggling scrap materials collected across the country have become active. Thousands of tons of scrap materials are exported to India every day.
Wasted water bottles and Red Bull bottles can be reused to produce various materials. For this, Nepali industrialists have also invested billions and operated industries. But smugglers, in the greed of making a lot of money, have not sold scrap materials to Nepali industrialists and have illegally sent them to India.
In this way, smugglers have collected scrap materials from across the country and sent them to border districts. The smugglers have collected scrap materials by making fake bills to transport them from one district to another. The collected garbage is stored in the border districts and exported to India at night.
Recently, illegal transportation of goods has been taking place from Rupandehi district. A large amount of plastic garbage and other garbage is being smuggled from Chhotki Piprahiya, Sesafrina on the Nepal-India border to Keutaliya in India, which is completely illegal according to the laws of India and Nepal.
A businessman said that carriers named Sonu, Gulav, Umesh and Birender are currently smuggling goods in rickshaws and vehicles from 2 am to 4 am every night. The industrialist said, “Industries were operated by taking loans because there was potential in Nepal, but all the raw materials are being smuggled, and the regulatory bodies are not looking into anything. As a result, recycling factories established in Nepal are closing down due to lack of raw materials.”
Currently, industries operating in Nepal provide employment to thousands of Nepalis and also pay taxes (revenue) to the state.
