Lions Club donates equipment worth Rs 8 million to Dhaulagiri Eye Hospital

Gandaki. Lions Club International Foundation has provided health equipment worth 8 million 81 thousand to Dhaulagiri Eye Hospital in Baglung.

With the launch of the said support project, the club’s International Director Balkrishna Burlakoti handed over eye treatment equipment to Bindusagar Rajbhandari, President of Netra Jyoti Sangh, Baglung, on Thursday. Director Burlakoti said that the support project has been introduced targeting the general public of Baglung, Parbat, Myagdi, Mustang, Gulmi and Arghakhanchi.

‘These equipments have been provided with the aim of providing quality health services to eye patients. Patients in this area will now be less compelled to go to Pokhara and Kathmandu for treatment,’ he said.

Director Burlakoti pledged to provide further support on behalf of Lines International in the coming days for the upgrading of Dhaulagiri Eye Hospital. He informed that Lions International is running a project worth more than Rs. 2 billion in Nepal in the field of humanitarian services.

Project Head Durga Kunwar said that the equipment was provided to Dhaulagiri Eye Hospital on the special initiative of Lions Club International District 325 ‘K’ Nepal. He said that the Lions International Foundation’s support project to the hospital came about through their tireless efforts.

‘This is the biggest support provided by Lions International in the Dhaulagiri region so far. The hospital has been helped to provide quality services to patients with the help of modern equipment,’ he said. Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh had brought Dhaulagiri Eye Hospital into operation since 2077 BS with the technical assistance of Himalaya Eye Hospital.

The district president of the association, Rajbhandari, informed that the said hospital has been providing services including surgery. According to him, the association has also been conducting free eye treatment camps. The hospital is providing services through skilled doctors and there is a need for additional manpower, said President Rajbhandari.

The hospital has also taken forward the work of building and infrastructure management. The hospital has been providing services including regular surgeries in collaboration with Himalaya Eye Hospital in Pokhara. Since 2049 BS, the association has been leading in eye health awareness and treatment in the Dhaulagiri region.
